I reuse my jars !

When unfortunately your candle is finished, don't get rid of your jar, there are plenty of ways to reuse it. Here we explain how to clean it properly and give you several ideas to give it a second life.

If you love candles as much as we do, you probably already have several at home and don't know what to do with them.

First of all, here are some tips to clean them well. There are several methods, it's up to you to find the one that suits you best and makes your life easier.

The freezer method

This is the simplest method. As the wax shrinks and becomes brittle when cooled, it will be easy to remove from the container. First, place your old candle in the freezer for a few hours. Then, take a knife and carefully remove the residual wax and remove the metal wick holder from the bottom of the jar. The rest of the residue can be cleaned up simply with warm water and soap.

Double boiler method:

For stubborn wax residues, the water bath method is a great option. This method involves filling a bowl with boiling water and carefully placing the candle container in it for a few minutes. The heat from the boiling water will transfer to the sides of the container and melt the wax that is still attached inside. You can then empty the melted wax into a disposable container (don't throw the wax in the sink) and finish the cleaning with paper towels and hot soapy water.
You can also use a hair dryer on the surface of the jar to heat it and melt the small thin residue and wipe the jar before cleaning it with soap and water as with the other methods.

Can I reuse the wax removed from my candle containers?

We know it's sometimes sad that you can't burn your favorite candle all the way to the bottom of the jar, since it's recommended for your safety to stop ½ inch from the bottom, but don't worry you don't have to throw it away. This wax that has not been burned is still very good. If you have a wax melt burner, you can save the wax removed during the  cleaning process and use it as regular wax cubes. This way you really get the most out of your candle.
